Hot TV Series:November 15-18

How I Met Your Mother (Monday, 8/7c, CBS)
Some of the funniest moments in this sitcom's history involve Robin's shamefully cheesy past as Canadian child star "Robin Sparkles." Who can forget "Let's Got to the Mall" and "Sandcastles in the Sand," to name a magic few videos Robin would just as soon forget. This nagging skeleton once again emerges as Barney finds a copy of Space Teens, and this time we make the acquaintance of her co-star Jessica Glitter (played by Pussycat Doll and Dancing With the Stars champ Nicole Scherzinger). Let the good times roll, eh?
Glee (Tuesday, 8/7c, Fox)
If McKinley High's new substitute teacher looks familiar, it's because she's a movie star, the latest celeb to ride this pop-culture phenom's comet trail. Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow stunt-guests as Mr. Shue's fill-in when the glee-club leader falls ill, and her new approach sits well with New Directions. She's not the only fill-in making waves. Sue Sylvester takes over for an ailing Principal Figgins, and we all know what happens when power goes to this crazy lady's head.
Human Target (Wednesday, 8/7c, Fox)
Better late than never, and better Wednesdays than Fridays. That's the story of Human Target's delayed second-season premiere. Initially scheduled to premiere earlier this fall on Friday nights, it was moved to Wednesdays as part of a domino shuffle in the wake of Lone Star's instant cancellation. Good news for the offbeat action series, which probably would have died on Fridays. Joining the team of mercenary do-gooders this season are two female regulars: Indira Varma (currently on BBC America's Luther) as a megabucks philathropist, and Janet Montgomery as a master thief with a shady past.
The Big Bang Theory (Thursday, 8/7c, CBS)
Can we just say how good it is to have Penny (aka Kaley Cuoco) back from her thankfully brief horse-riding-accident-imposed hiatus? This week, she's joined by a familiar TV face: Keith Carradine (most recently seen on Dexter and Damages) as her dad, whose visit prompts a panicked Penny to rope Leonard into a lie. The episode is titled "The Boyfriend Complexity," so we're assuming things don't go all that smoothly for the princess across the hall.
